Kaikohe Literacy Day 2010

What happened on the day?

  • Each participating school or group set up a stand with suitable Literacy Activities for the children to complete - check out the photos above to get an idea of the activities. 2,600 Literacy Activities were completed on the day!
  • The emphasis was on participation and enjoyment - whānau involvement was great.
  • We wanted to share some of the wonderful Literacy Activities our children enjoy at school with whānau.
  • When children arrived they were given a Literacy Passport.
    • When they completed an activity their passport was stamped.
    • Once all the spaces on the passport were stamped the student went to the bus where the passport was exchanged for a prize bag of books and other goodies.
    • 325 Passports were completed on the day and 325 Prize bags were given out.
    • Surplus Prize Bags have been distributed to the participating schools.
